Merritt W. “Tim” Green, II

of Counsel

Tim Green grew up in Ohio, where his father was a respected attorney.  Tim attended the University of Michigan.  In undergraduate school, he was the captain of the U of M football team.

Early in Tim’s career, his firm represented virtually all the major labor unions of northwestern Ohio, and Tim became a champion of workers’ rights.  His involvement is chronicled in the United States Supreme Court case, “In Re Green”.  He served two terms as Lucas County Court judge.

Tim developed special expertise in the field of personal injury, including products liability, auto negligence, railroad employee injury cases, and became a recognized leader in the unique field of maritime law.  (He represented seven families who lost loved ones in the Edmund Fitzgerald tragedy.)

In 1990 Tim and his wife, Pat, moved to Suttons Bay, Michigan.  In 1993, after receiving a highly-publicized $7.5 million verdict on behalf of three children killed at a defective railroad crossing operated by Grand Trunk Railway, Tim defended the verdict in the Ohio Supreme Court and eventually received a $9 million settlement.

Tim is a member of the Ohio and Michigan Bars and has been admitted to practice in all Michigan courts, Ohio courts, and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.  Some claim that he has the best sense of humor in the law firm.
